Deception Bay Foreshore, 2011
Moreton Bay Regional Council
Moreton Bay Regional Council commissioned Timeline Heritage to conduct a scoping study to produce a heritage trail along approximately 2km of the Deception Bay foreshore. The brief was to highlight places, themes and stories from the history of Deception Bay, and at the same time, encourage people to have pride and interest in their local area.
The project involved significant historical and archival research, community consultation and liaison with Council to create the text and images for 13 heritage markers describing the settlement of the area and its diverse history. Timeline Heritage worked in collaboration with a local artist, Paul D Johnson from Artventureaustralia, whose signage markers reflect the unique geological shapes and rock formations, native eucalyptus leaves and mangrove roots.
A booklet which provides additional information is available from the Deception Bay Library.
